80% Accept Blood Transfusion

80% accept blood transfusion.

i added a new article on my blog citing a 1995 medical study finding something interesting about blood transfusion and young folks among jehovahs witnesses.

the study shows that at least 80% (5 out of 6) accept allogeneic red blood cell transfusions or else their witness parents accept it on their behalf and without need of court-order.

Satan was right when he said: And everything a man has, he will give it to save his own skin. It's not a bad thing necessarily, it's merely an animal thing - survival is your prime instinct. If you attempt to commit suicide by hanging and you don't break your neck or restrain yourself, you will unconsciously attempt to save yourself, same goes for drowning and is also the reason baby's can swim.

Put yourself in the situation - you or your kid has to undergo an operation and there are 2 choices, certain death imposed by people that can't even explain their doctrines themselves or a chance of survival based on sound, proven science. Blood transfusion is not always the answer but these days (DISCLAIMER: I work in the medical research field but I am not a licensed medical professional) most doctor's will try to exhaust any viable other option especially if their client asks for it however doctor's do not want you to die nor are they agents/worshippers of Satan so if they say it's your last option, you should believe them and make a choice accordingly.

Meeting was totally soulless, joyless

i went to a sunday meeting recently (for family reasons).

it was the first meeting i'd attended in a few years.

i couldn't help but notice how utterly soulless it was.

You must not be doing the right thing. If you're not enjoying Jehovah's service, you are doing something wrong so you should do more of it so you can start enjoying it again.

How can the WTS be short of money ?

so the society have a hedge fund, some(50%) shares in a usa company who specsialise in weapons delivery systems , has a shares portfolio that includes cigerettes.it buys up real estate in one of the worlds most lucerative locations ny,uses free labour to refurbish these properties along with its tax free status and then sells them on at a profit.it further extends it real estate portfolio by lending money at intrest ,for the building of more kh, again built with free labour and tax breaks, which are never owned by the cong,s who built them, but belong wts.

i am not an economist,though i would be hard pressed to come up with a better economic model than this, also it purports to be politically nuetral, so hopes to operate globally without restrictions, infact the (workers) have to pay the society ,by way of mag sales and donations, in order to give their free labour, no trade union protection or minimum wage.

g--gle, p--si,ya-oo, micro---t, would kill to have these advantages in the market place..

As said above, liquidity is a real problem in the WTBTS.

A lot of European countries for example can't have non-profits keeping a lot of money sitting around in savings so that money has to be continuously reinvested in properties and spent, it also can't be transferred abroad or be used for political messages (for or against) or to protect individuals (it has to benefit a community) and those things have them now in trouble with tax laws for example in France.

In the US nobody can 'profit' from the operation and they can not make that impression either to the IRS so a lot of it is loaned out again and reinvested. They can sell a lot of property but that takes time. They aren't running out of money yet, but they are running out of investors and all the pioneers they've been drumming up won't be able to share much of their income either.

First of all I noticed that they basically complained a lot about being persecuted but have to dig deep to get examples of real physical abuse:

Russia and surrounding states: They are being accused of being extremist a notion they somewhat admit and books are being banned although sources in Russia say even though the ban has been set by a court it is not being enforced since they're appealing to the EHCR.

Turkey: A zoning law requires them to change a KH building. Really, persecution to appeal to the EHCR to? I know quite some JW buildings that are not entirely set up according to law and the local authorities do have the authority to shut it down if it's in violation.

Belgium: The local branch they claim is being used and staffed full time (a requirement to qualify for the tax breaks) but for a fact I know it is not so. There have been talks to actually shut down that branch since it's only used to store and sort the publications from Germany - a weekly shipment which uses some local volunteers for a couple of hours each week - as well as some other administrative purposes (offices). The branch overseer isn't even there full time.

Just as with all their doctrines, they slowly change them over time introducing little changes here and there to make it seem they do not outright reject a teaching. Same goes for the identity of the wild beast, the generations etc. First they stop mentioning it, then they start twisting it then they just bring it out in a publication and when you blink (or dozed off for a second during that study) you missed it. Eventually the 'new light' starts appearing more and more in talks and publications and a lot of people just think THEY just had the wrong idea or misinterpreted it and the WTBTS had it right the whole time.

With core ideas like the generations (which recently changed) and the kings of north/south and wild beast (which hasn't changed yet but hasn't been mentioned for a decade either) they wait a long time and when it does change they sustain some damage in their 20-40 age group but the rest is either too young to remember or too old to want to change. Some people just keep believing the old stuff until they die which nobody seems to care that they do.

does anyone know if the watchtower cd's from the early days that you order from freeminds has any reference on them regarding identifiers?

can you tell they are from freeminds or is there anything that gives away they were ordered from a so called apostate website?.

Your hall might have them, my hall has the original Studies of the Scriptures with the pyramids and everything (and some of those books were redacted later). It doesn't matter though, the JW's reject all old publications as flawed and any that adhere to it as apostate. If you point out the differences you are an apostate. If you say anything bad about the organization or the current version of their doctrine you are an apostate.

rich and james out of guilt, richard out of depression.. james and rich were both under 30 years old.. after richard wheelock (a bethel heavy) killed himself the society changed it's stand on whether suicides could be resurrectioned or not..

A couple of them:

- A young man (and his siblings) were sexually abused by their father and never reported on to the authorities even after lengthy judicial committee's. He (the father) is still a free man.

- A young man (pioneer, ms) who was never able to find a mate in the truth, never was accepted to bethel and eventually got DF'ed for having a girlfriend outside the truth, killed himself a week later.

- A young girl hung herself after coming out lesbian and causing 'reproach on her family' that made her father step down as an elder.

they come up with a business scheme that they think will yield the greatest revenue.

Depends on which way you approach it.

- If you're in front of a judge you would have to prove that this practice is NOT ethical. Say the manufacturer ripped you off with the casket you bought.

- If you're the reseller you would have to hide the fact that you are doing it or at least downplay it. Many businesses do it, they tempt you with sales (say a Chevy) and sell you at best a mediocre product (a Buick) while you can't afford the high-end (Cadillac) but they are all made by the same manufacturer (GM).

- If you don't like it you can choose to expose the practice in your word-of-mouth advertising and that is where the above comes in - how well did the manufacturer hide it and is it enough of an issue to be turned off by it.

There is a whole branch of economics and advertising that delves deeper into this issue and how to streamline the 3 products in order to achieve maximum revenue and brand recognition.

Dude...Memorial on Sunday? and the Battle for sd-7 Continues

i've gotten past much of my grieving over the whole marriage-destruction thing, largely by drowning out reality.

i've been even more of a movie-head than usual--and that's saying an awful lot.

also, the quality of my meals has gone down considerably.

Dude... Since your marriage is on the rocks, ask her, would it help us if I was there or not. Why does she ask you to come? Maybe she just wants to feel like a family going to a religious event - women are weird creatures of habit and comfort, in case of problems they run to where they feel safe (maybe her parent's house) and try to revert to the time when everything was still good.

For most JW's, the Memorial, the Meetings, the Conventions is as much "goin' to church" as baptists and catholics. How many do you think actually have a family study instead of the book study and prepare properly for meetings, cut out the TV and all the other things devout Witnesses should do? Trust me, very few. Everybody is most happy on a snow day, some elder bodies even prematurely cancel the meeting once in a while.

You HAVE to tell her how YOU feel about this and allow her to express HER feelings if you want to save your marriage. Forget about your/her/their mother and those around you as you can see for them it's also just a charade. If SHE wants you to be there for her to feel better and make her feel she has a flying chance at making this work you should go along with her but you should let her know how YOU feel about it in order for it to be reciprocally genuine. For her it might be a special event and there are many 'worldly' husbands in many congregations that come along just for that day but never come to meetings. This does not mean you should compromise or make a big scene but you should also not let your feelings of betrayal get in the way of your relationship.

On the other hand it might also show her the betrayal you felt depending on your congregation's reaction. Sometimes, people come out of the woodwork and say the weirdest things when you do something unexpected or upset somebody because you are DF'ed and she may see the faintest flicker of light as she sees that people actually don't care for you or her. This event is supposed to be about love and welcoming the new and inactive with open arms (see the KM's article on that) and she may see that not everybody shares that sentiment.

Anyone here have any experience with the "super-natural"?

and if so, would that prove an existence of evil-spirits (demons)?.

i have heard of a couple of stories of possession, or of jw's talking to spiritists and the spiritists having seen 2 men following the jw, either dressed all in black, or all in white, and very strong looking.

yet, i have never experienced any of it.. another experience that i heard is about a brother whose mom had super-natural strength, and tossed something really heavy.

What I find in the scientific field is that a lot of these 'hauntings' and 'possessions' disappear with the correct medications, medical care or improving education and living conditions.

I'm not saying anybody here is crazy for experiencing certain things but a lot of it can be attributed to an active imagination coupled with religious believes in the spirit world. Some things that even I have experienced can be explained to daydreams, lucid dreams or external (controlled or involuntary) influences. As far as synchronous dreams, look into deja vu. Our mind will fill in certain blanks with things we experience, hear or see at a given point in time.

One thing I have noticed that as the culture changes, the descriptions of the 'persons' seen also change to whatever the believe system says they should look like.

A good example of how your imagination can be influenced is the video game Amnesia. If you're interested, go buy the game, play it through and see how and when the character you're playing reacts to it's surroundings and starts seeing and feeling things. According to the character something is really wrong but is it his mental state or is it real.
